Scuba Diving Utila Style

With the exception of the magnificent whale shark, big sea creatures were largely non-existent, (yes, the pun is intentional), but macro opportunites abounded. The photographs in this gallery were taken duing my trip to Utila in the Bay Islands of Honduras in March of 2007. Macro shots and close-ups were taken uisng a Nikon D100 with a Sigma 105 lens in a Light & Motion housing. Twin strobes, when used, were Nikonos SB105 and a Sea & Sea YS 60. Tthe SB-105 alone was used for macro. Wide angle shots were few in number due to lmited visibility; however, the few taken were shot with a Nikon 12-24 lens. The high level of particulate matter in the water made both wide angle shooting and macro difficult, and unseasonaably strong winds and wave action prevented access to some of the best dive sites.
