Craig Leaper

I view the art of photography as a subtractive process, a distilling of reality into a personal vision. I explore abstract and traditional scenery as motifs to describe the idea of infinite space. I enjoy photography because it allows me to share my distilled images of reality. I’ve enjoyed creating images in the Lancaster County area because of the county’s uniqueness in culture and geography. Photography has always been a love and passion in my life and is reflected in my images. Photography is going through a digital revolution and I completely embrace it with techniques that I use. These photographs are a marriage of digital and traditional photography. As such I often use the tools of modern photography, different film stocks, filters, and digital enhancement to try to capture in an image the emotions I felt at the moment I tripped the camera's shutter.
