Judy is correct, 18 sheets of paper equals 36 pages. Each side of a sheet of paper is a page (just like a novel) ()

I believe it's 18 physical pages (but not positive). A great link on min/max pages for each type of book, type of paper used etc... is: http://www.prestophoto.com/wiki/index.php?structure_id=421

Thanks to both of you!

Follow up question...

So does this mean that physical pages needed to get spine printing for a softover would be 35 or just 18?

Front and back count as 2 pages. The books start with the right hand side. You can get only 1 side of a page printed, but will pay for both sides.

Hi David,

The rule of thumb is 35 pages. It's not quite that simple since it is a calculation based on paper width, simplex or duplex (1 or 2 sided), and binding type (all hardcovers get spine text, even if the softcover does not. Keep in mind if you delete all the spine text in while editing your cover, you obviously will never get any spine text.

You can also search the forums just by viewing the main page listing all the posts, e.g. http://www.prestophoto.com/forums/board/5

Not sure if there's a way to search forum topics - sorry if this is a repeat.

I'm wondering how many pages are necessary to allow for text to be printed on the spine of of the softcovers.

Also, is Front & Back of one sheet considered 1 or 2 pages?

Thanks.
