I believe what you are seeing is smart quotes the Microsoft is so fond of inserting. Unfortunately they are not standardized for simplified character encodings, which is all the back end PDF generatiion software used by our Book Machine will support.
The simple fix is to replace smart or "curly" quotes with simple straight quotes and all should work well. I know engineering is looking at your book. We hope to upgrade the book machine at some point, but it is not at the top of the priority list yet.

Posted:09 Jun 2009 (16:54 UTC)Hi. When I generated a PDF preview, all the apostrophes that I had used (and the quotation marks) were all converted to "a" with an accent.
